While I was searching around on the net to see if I could find any interesting information on Stefanie, RJ or Hart to Hart I came across an article written by Rowby Goren who wrote the episode ‘A Christmas Hart’ (episode 76 Season 4). I found it a very interesting article and if you haven’t read it I have included the link to the full article below.
The bit I found most interesting about the article was the following quote:
“I waited to see the director discussing the motivation for the scene, etc. But it never happened. Robert and Stephanie took a glance at their lines. The camera rolled and they shot the main sequence in just a few takes. If you look at the old episodes of the Hart to Hart series you will see that Mr. Wagner and Ms. Powers are really not playing characters. They are really not acting. They are simply playing themselves reading lines in a script. They obviously had a good time with the series which went on for several seasons and was syndicated all over the world. It was not great “acting”. But their audience loved them. And that is all that counts.”
I’ve often thought, while watching the show, that Jonathan and Jennifer were just an extension of RJ and Stefanie – that they were bringing a lot of themselves to the parts. What do you all think?

Stefanie in Mistral’s Daughter
I was poking around the net looking for information on Stefanie, RJ or Hart to Hart and I came across this great article from October 1st, 1984. It is an article about Stefanie filming Mistral’s Daughter. I found it very interesting to read. You may have read this before or not. The link is below for those that haven’t.
A couple of quotes from the article that amused me were
Quote 1: “Who lit the fire under Stefanie? Certainly the surprise cancellation of Hart to Hart brought her up sharply. She was a month into shooting Mistral’s when Wagner and her producers called with the bad news. “She cried for a day,” says Wagner, who later flew to Paris to offer a shoulder to lean on. Wagner says that in their morning-to-midnight workdays on Hart he’d spent “more time with her than any other woman in my life.” Says Stefanie: “It’s like a divorce. I’m not made of steel. My pain is as big as anybody’s.”"
Quote 2: “And so a visitor watching Powers on the set is confronted with a dynamo. Stefanie listens as author Krantz, whose husband, Steve, is the miniseries’ executive producer, complains about a line in the script that had been changed from her novel. “Can’t they use the word virgin on television?” Krantz asks. Cracks Powers, “There are no virgins on television.” Over lunch with director Hickox, Powers asks whether he minds if she smokes. “Yes,” he says. “—- you, baby,” Stefanie replies with a laugh, lighting up. Such four-letter words, in all their various conjugations, are not uncommon for Stefanie. It soon becomes clear that Powers’ earthy core is a surprise only to those who know her strictly from five years of Hart to Hart. “You can’t put anything over on her,” says her stand-in, Guylène Péan. Those who try are chewed out or ignored. “That’s firmness, not toughness,” says Powers in self-defense. “I hope it’s possible to be firm without being a monster. Unfortunately, sometimes people don’t hear you until you scream.” ”
